Wear walking shoes
We are situated at the foot of a STEEP 300m hill which you have to walk down on a dirt and stone path to reach us (and walk back up eventually). We recommend you wear walking shoes. Nothing extreme is necessary, just something with a little grip. The path can get slippery, especially during rainy season.
Pack warm clothes
It can be very sunny and warm during the day, but because we’re located in the tropical mountains it can get quite chilly at night. Be sure to bring a warm jacket or sweater with you. Staying with us? Don’t worry, all of our rooms feature extra cozy Guatemalan made blankets and hot showers! The Temazcal is extra fantastic when the temperatures drop or during the rain!
Bring a flashlight
In order to maintain the peace and tranquility of the mountains and to reduce our carbon footprint, we have minimal outdoor lighting. Be sure to bring a flashlight if you’ve visiting for dinner or staying with us overnight.
Bring a raincoat or umbrella
Our mountains are so lush and beautiful because we receive bountiful rain. Even if you are visiting outside of the rainy season, we can get an afternoon rain shower so it’s best to plan ahead and bring rain gear.
Reception services available 8am – 8pm
Please plan your travel accordingly. Reception services include check-ins, check-outs, email, text, & phone response, as well as spa and excursion bookings. Check-in is from 2pm – 8pm, and Check-out is at 11am.
Restaurant open 8am – 8pm
Please plan your travel and mealtimes accordingly. Cafe & Bar are open 7:30am – 9:30pm for beverages and bakery items. Our restaurant is open to the public, no RSVP necessary. Vegan, Vegetarian, Gluten Free, and Conscientious Carnivore options available.
What Forms Of Payment Do We Accept?
We can accept Cash (Guatemalan Quetzal or USD), Guatemalan Bank Transfer, or most major credit cards (5% processing fee).
Are dogs allowed at Earth Lodge?
Pets are welcome but males MUST be fixed. If your pet is not well behaved or does not get along well with other dogs, you must have your pet on a leash as we have 3 rescue dogs who live on our property. Please help us maintain the peace and tranquility of Earth Lodge by ensuring your pet does not bark or bother other guests. Earth Lodge reserves the right to refuse entrance to pets or ask you to remove your pet from the property at any time.
Is it safe to eat raw fruits & veggies at Earth Lodge?
We use filtered drinking water, UV filtration, AND food safe soap to thoroughly disinfect ALL fruits and veggies even if they are going to be cooked. Earth Lodge is dedicated to providing our guests with clean drinking water and healthy foods, and is one of the safest places in Guatemala to eat raw foods.
Is Earth Lodge kid friendly?
We welcome families but ask that the peace and tranquility of the lodge are maintained and that children are attended to at all times. There is a beautiful nature path that families can walk together as well as a large green space for all our guests to enjoy, but we do not have playground equipment or other forms of entertainment for your children.
Is Earth Lodge handicap accessible?
Unfortunately, due to our remote mountain location Earth Lodge is not wheelchair accessible or conducive to those with injuries that inhibit walking.
Do you have WIFI?
We have high speed STARLINK wifi at The Lodge and on the patio outside the lodge. Wifi not available in cabins.
Earth Lodge is excited to invite bilingual volunteers who are eager to join us for at least 6 weeks! We appreciate volunteers with some customer service experience—whether it’s in hotels, bars, or restaurants—and availability of up to 30 hours a week to help out.
This position is a fantastic opportunity for anyone who loves nature, enjoys meeting people from diverse backgrounds, feels confident in providing table service, and thrives in a team setting. We do require fluency in both Spanish and English, though!
Here’s what we offer our amazing volunteers:
- Free shared accommodation at Earth Lodge (maximum 3 people per cabin)
- Three delicious meals a day with discounts on drinks
- Internet access
- Use of a fully equipped yoga + workout studio
*For certified yoga instructors, there are even more perks available, including payment or private accommodation, which we can discuss individually.
