El Hato Half Day Hike
Enjoy a 4-hour guided hike to explore the local area including the famous “Cuatro Caminos” trail featuring beautiful old growth trees and tropical forest. Hike departs from Earth Lodge at sunrise to catch the cooler weather and morning sunshine. To request a guide please contact reception ahead of time. You can also request a picnic lunch or home made protein bars for your hiking packs at reception!
El Hato Sunset Hike
Enjoy a 2-hour guided hike to explore the local area including beautiful tropical mountain forests and local fincas. On this hike you’ll encounter many beautiful vistas perfect for taking photos, and you’re likely to see many rare tropical birds! Hike departs from Earth Lodge two hours before sunset to catch the “golden hour” the best light of the day for photos!
Cerro Del Cucurucho Hike
Enjoy a half day guided hike through the oak and cloud forest, view a wide variety of birds and flowers on the way to the summit of the famous El Cucurucho. You will be rewarded with a stunning view of lake Amatatitlan at the top. This is a moderately challenging hike recommended for experienced hikers. The total time inclusive of a lunch break is 5~6 hours on average. Picnic lunch or hiking snacks can be requested ahead of time at reception. To book a guide, please contact reception ahead of time.

Earth Lodge guests are picked up at Earth Lodge and transported with your professional bilingual guide to the volcano. For all hikes, entrance fees and meals are included.
