MAYAN CACAO CEREMONY
Cacao is roughly translated as “food of the Gods”, and it’s purest form can be found in the far reaches of Guatemala. Mayan cacao ceremonies are a celebratory ritual and type of shamanic healing that opens the heart through the use of cacao. The beautiful views, sounds, and ancient mysteries surrounding the tropical mountains where Earth Lodge is nestled near Antigua Guatemala provide the perfect setting to experience a Mayan Cacao Ceremony without having to travel far! What To Expect:
The Mayan Cacao Ceremony is lead by a local female indigenous Mayan Shaman. Components of the ceremony include the ceremonial preparation and drinking of the cacao, intention setting, meditation, rhythmic chanting, traditional musical instruments, and storytelling. A cacao ceremony is traditionally believed to offer an opportunity to open your mind and heart and connect with yourself and others.
MAYAN TEMAZCAL CEREMONY
This comprehensive ancient therapy works through heat, natural aromatic medicinal plants, natural exfoliants, and herbal baths and is lead by our beloved local female Mayan shaman. By incorporating chakra activation and the four vital elements of the Mayan Cosmovision, the shaman will guide participants to eliminate toxins from the body and spirit at all levels.
What To Expect:
This ceremony honors the traditional spiritual nature of the Temazcal, used by the Mayans to eliminate toxins both physically and spiritually, leaving the practitioners cleansed, lighter, and clearer. For this ceremony it’s recommended to wear minimal clothing or no clothing, as traditional mud exfoliant will be applied to the body. The shaman will conduct the ceremony both outside and inside the Temazcal, leading participants through the traditional sacred ritual.
MAYAN FIRE CEREMONY
In this ceremony our local indigenous Mayan shaman prepares a ceremonial fire which includes sacred offerings to the ancestors such as tobacco, medicinal plants, multi-colored candles signifying different intentions, prayers, and energies, and aromatics. The Mayan fire ceremony is a powerful prayer and offering and can be used to seek release, find clarity, center, cleanse, manifest, heal, or ask for intercession. The ceremony honors all components of life and is an energetically balancing ritual.
What To Expect:
The Mayan shaman will share stories, songs, and chanting with participants during this ceremony, invoking the elements, the 4 directions, and various Mayan nahuals based on the date of the ceremony in the Mayan calendar. Participants will be invited to join in song, prayer, and intention setting; working with the shaman to call upon the ancestors and to bring individual intentions to the ceremony.
