El Hato HALF DAY Hike
Enjoy a 4-hour guided hike to explore the local area including the famous “Cuatro Caminos” trail featuring beautiful old growth trees and tropical forest. Departure time is based on sunrise or sunset time and your schedule. To book a guided hike please contact reception ahead of time.

El Hato MINI Hike
Enjoy a 2-hour guided hike to explore the local area including beautiful tropical mountain forests and local fincas. On this hike you’ll encounter many beautiful vistas perfect for taking photos, and you’re likely to see many rare tropical birds! We recommend departing at either 9am, or two hours before sunset to catch the “golden hour” the best light of the day for photos! To book a guided hike please contact reception ahead of time.

Earth Lodge Birding Trek
Join Marty Stoner of Nighthawk Birding Tours on an immersive tour of the beautiful birds of El Hato. This guided morning walk through pine and oak forests is perfect for anyone interested in birds, whether you are an experienced birder or just curious to see what’s out there! Marty brings a decade of birdwatching experience and knows the trails well, giving you great chances to see beautiful species like emerald toucanets and blue-throated motmots. Binoculars are available for use during the hike if needed. Marty shares the bird list with photos taken during the hike as a wonderful souvenir of your birding trek!

CERRO DE LA CRUZ TREK
Hike directly from Earth Lodge to the famous Cerro De La Cruz, a beautiful historic landmark overlooking the Antigua Valley. This is an out and back single track trail traversing beautiful tropical forests, streams, and numerous vistas perfect for photos. The last kilometer of the hike finishes at the historic Cerro de la Cruz park. Enjoy your time at the historic landmark before the return trek back.
